"When I was four years old, I almost drowned in the river. Of all things to remember from bein' a kid, that's the first thing that comes to mind. Water was pressing in from everywhere, I couldn't see, couldn't hear ... heck, I couldn't think! It was so scary.
The first time I shifted was ... eerily similar. I went from feeling fine, if not a little creeped out that my body kept urging me towards the river that had scared me for twelve years, to stretching and hurting. I thought my lungs had stopped working, that I was dying or going crazy. 'Is this what being insane feels like?' I wondered. And then I looked in the river.
There I was. The sandy face of a Fennec fox stared back at me. By then, I knew I was insane. When the realization finally hit me that oh my God! I can turn into a fox, I panicked and ran home. But that drowning sensation, like there was water in my mouth and ears and eyes, like I didn't have much longer to live, didn't pass until I broke down and told my brother."
Welcome to IN THE FLOOD ?!, a Shifter RPG set in a fictional town, Eaglepoint, along the Pearl River in Mississippi.
WEATHER:
it's been hot, hot, hot in Eaglepoint this summer. the middle of July has rolled around, and the humidity is almost too much to bear. air conditioners are on full blast and very few people dare to leave the house during the late morning and afternoon.
i want to find a music player that doesn't start playing right away, that pauses automatically and you have to click "play" to start. xD so bear with me for now and click the link if you want music for now.
. . . . IMPORTANT INFORMATION, there are some super-important threads in here. please read them all before applying for your character. thank you, and welcome to IN THE FLOOD,!
. . . . PLOTTING, come here to post threads to introduce your character and plot with them, example: "____ needs friends. this is their personality-" only, nicer. xD
. . . . WANTED CHARACTERS, only post in this board when you're being specific - as in, I need someone to play this character, this is their relationship to mine, etc.
. . . . HOMES, Since Eaglepoint is a fairly new town, most of the houses are pretty modern - stainless steel kitchen appliances, hardwood floors with hardly a scratch on them, huge yards. Of course, there's the odd home or two with an older look to it.
There's very few apartment blocks in Eaglepoint, but those who live in them have nice residences.

. . . . SHOPPING, Although a small town, Eaglepoint has all kinds of shops. 'Course, you could always just take a drive somewhere else for a day or two, but for the most part, there's a wide enough variety of different stores to satisfy everyone.

. . . . RESTAURANTS, Cooking just isn't for everyone. And even for those who enjoy it, it's not always fun when you have to do it every day. From fast food to five-star restaurants, Eaglepoint has got a place for every occasion.

. . . . EAGLEPOINT PARK, One park is set up on the edge of town, extending a bit past the perimeter, even. It's beautiful, with trees and flowers and other plants. There are numerous paths formed throughout the entire place, with benches to sit on and picnic tables. In the middle of the park, you can find a play structure for little kids, although once the sun sets it's not unusual to find some teenagers here.

. . . . EAGLEPOINT HOSPITAL, A small hospital, yes, but the doctors and nurses are well trained and know how to cure almost any ailment you might come to them with. On the off chance that they don't know, they can easily have you taken to a hospital in a bigger city.
. . . . HALLWAYS, With lockers on either side of the hallways and the occasional water fountain, they aren't much to look at. At the same time, however, who knows what drama could take place?
. . . . CLASSROOMS, Just like any other classroom - teachers desk, whiteboard behind it, cold desks with fake wood tops and empty candy wrappers stuck in the back.
. . . . LIBRARY, Eaglepoint High has a beautiful library - huge shelves with all sorts of books. Unfortunately, they aren't very good at staying up-to-date with books recently published, so you're better off buying that new book you couldn't wait to read.
. . . . CAFETERIA, Oddly enough, the cafeteria in Eaglepoint High is quite a nice one. Originally white, the students from previous years were given the opportunity to dip their hands in paint and handprint all over the walls in multicolour. Slightly blinding at first, it's quite the sight once you're used to it.
. . . . OFFICES, Whether it's the Principal's office, a teacher's office, or the nurse's office, you're probably going to end up in one of them at some point during the year. Maybe you just encounter a friend or enemy in the front office before school one morning!

. . . . RESTROOMS, With stalls in both the boy's and girl's bathroom that are an atrocious dull blue colour and ugly yellow walls, no one can say that they thing much of the restrooms. Regardless, you can still find a few people in them at lunch touching up their makeup or ditching classes.

. . . . GYM, Large, echo-y, cold, white walls. The only bright and bold things in this room iare all the lines painted on the pale wooden floor.

. . . . OUTSIDE, The school, built of brick with heavy black doors, is a little intimidating at first glance. The dull, dirty outside doesn't do much for that appearance. With a low wooden fence surrounding the parking lot and just a field for the students to hang out around at any breaks they might have, the whole place doesn't look to be particularly fun.

. . . . BEYOND THE CITY,
. . . . THE FORESTS, Almost completely surrounding Eaglepoint are very old, very beautiful forests. The trees are tall and strong, and there's all sorts of plants everywhere throughout them. Perfect place for a shifter to run about, don't you think?

. . . . PEARL RIVER, Not far outside of the city's limits is the Pearl River. Clear and blue and surrounded by forest, it intrigues all who see it. This is the place where all shifters first transform.

. . . . THE HOUSE, About a twenty minute drive from the outside of the city is an old abandoned house. It's huge, three stories, and a great place to go when you want to be alone. Not many people know about it, and so you can almost always guarantee some time to yourself. Almost.
